About

Intensive Details

Who: Ages 6-11

When: June 15–18, 2026 • 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM daily

Join us for an immersive four-day training experience led by our resident faculty and special guest instructors. Week Two is designed for dancers ages 6–11 and covers a range of techniques including ballet, jazz, hip hop, and more. Each day begins with ballet, so come ready to move.

The Summer Intensive is mandatory for all current Small Fry and Mini Elite Performing Company members and serves as the required prerequisite for company auditions. Dancers interested in auditioning for a company must attend the intensive that corresponds to their age group.

A minimum of 1 year of dance training is required to participate.

Important: New to DMA? If your dancer has never taken classes with us before, please reach out through our contact form before registering so we can confirm placement.

Schedule

The full daily schedule will be posted on our Summer Intensive page approximately one to two weeks before the intensive begins.

What to Bring
  • Proper dance attire every day — leotard and tights are required for ballet. For all other classes, fitted dance shorts or leggings may be substituted for tights.
  • All shoes needed per the schedule: ballet shoes, jazz shoes, and sneakers for hip hop

  • A labeled water bottle — only water is permitted inside the studio spaces

  • A packed lunch with non-perishable items — students may not leave the building and there is no refrigerator on site. All food and other beverages must remain in dance bags or lunch boxes.

  • All personal belongings should be labeled with your dancer's name. DMA is not responsible for lost or damaged items.

Pizza Day: On the final day of the intensive, we will be ordering pizza for lunch. If your dancer would like to participate, please pay at the front desk or submit payment online (link to be distrbuted to respective families) — include your dancer's first and last name in the note. Payment is due by the morning of the last day of the intensive.

Drop-Off & Pickup
  • Dancers must be signed in and out each day. Parent/guardians must initial the sign-in sheets at the front desk each day.

  • Arrive no later than your dancer's start time for drop-off.

  • For pickup, please arrive 5–10 minutes before dismissal. Dancers will not be released until a parent or authorized adult is present.

Company Auditions

Auditions are by invitation only and are issued following the directors' review of each dancer's participation mid-intensive. Indicating interest during registration does not guarantee an invitation. All invitations and results are sent via email.

This intensive is required for Small Fry & Mini Elite Performing Companies and potential auditionees. This intensive is also required for all potential company auditionees.

Registration Information

Registration is processed through our Parent Portal, powered by Jackrabbit. A deposit is required at the time of registration and a credit card must be on file to complete checkout. All families must have a portal account to register — see the instructions below.
